Solar Plexus Pressure Belt™ G2 is the 2nd generation of a Deep Touch Pressure Technology which is designed for pressing into the solar plexus with the aim of reducing financially induced anxiety without pharmaceutical medications. The device is produced by Fellowship of Citizens, an interest group lobbying for Universal Basic Income in Iceland.
The prototype of the belt was developed by the artist in 2018 in collaboration with the fashion designer Agata Mickiewicz and the graphic designer Gabríel Markan. The new iteration of the belt has been improved in accordance with user experience and has attained an ergonomic design that follows the organic curves of the human body.
During Sequences X the belt is available in ELKO in different colours and sizes. Visitors are encouraged to try on the belt and take part in an Instagram game for a chance to receive a Solar Plexus Pressure Belt™ G2.
Saemundur Thor Helgason (b. 1986) is an Icelandic artist based between Reykjavik and Amsterdam. He is a co-founder of Cosmos Carl – Platform Parasitel, an online platform that only hosts hyperlinks provided by artists and curators. In 2017 he founded the interest group Félag Borgara (eng. Fellowship of Citizens), with the aim of lobbying for Universal Basic Income in Iceland. He is currently an artist-in-residence at the Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten in Amsterdam.
