The School Orchestra of Austubær was founded in 1954. The orchestra is primarily intended for students at the primary school level and has around 130 students. The orchestra offers studies on brass and percussion instruments alongside participation in orchestral playing.

Students from the School Orchestra of Austurbær, supervised by Björg Brjánsdóttir, perform and interpret in music the sculptures of Guðlaug Mía Eyþórsdóttir, Variations, which is exhibited at the exhibition / CREATION / DESTRUCTION / at the Living Art Museum.
