Maurice Blok will be making several different performance pieces during the festival, each as a separate event running throughout the festival week in different places around the city centre of Reykjavik. His actions are generally short and most often take no longer then 20 minutes each, but all relate in some way to his experimentation with cause and effect.

Blok’s actions and performances remind of Roman Signers “action sculptures”, involving setting up and carrying out ‘experiments’ that bear aesthetic results. Often brief but intense actions create an emotionally and visually compelling event. Maurice Blok gives a humorous twist to the concept of cause and effect to the method of experimentation and discovery, taking on the self-evidence of scientific logic as an artistic challenge.
