The moon demands fiction and Tunglið publishing responds to this call by publishing Moon-books. On Moon-nights, all the doors are open, all the time, because the pale light of the moon spares no one. For years, Tunglið has published books, records (with and without records in the cover), poetry posters, maintained a website for short stories by young authors as well as publishing Ljóðbréf Tunglsins (The Moon’s poem letter) twice a year as well as holding festivities on Moon-nights with irregular – and unpredictable – intervals.

Moon-Books are outside categories, neither this nor that. They are slightly smaller than regular books in terms of format and also different in content. Moon-nights are a channel for publishing fiction that otherwise wouldn’t easily find its way in the world of traditional book publishing. Among the authors of previous Moon-books are Kristín Ómarsdóttir, Anne Carson, Ásta Fanney Sigurðardóttir, Páll Ivan frá Eiðum, Ragnar Helgi Ólafsson, Pétur Gunnarsson, Margrét Bjarnadóttir, Björk Þorgrímsdóttir, Robert Currie, Hermann Stefánsson, Óskar Árni Óskarsson, Dóri DNA, Atli Sigþórsson (Kött Grá Pje) and Andri Snær Magnason to name a few.
