Ragnar Helgi Ólafsson

Ragnar Helgi Ólafsson (b. 1971) is a visual artist and author. He has written six books, received the Tómas Guðmundsson-Prize and been nominated for the Icelandic Literary Prize two times over. His books are published in translations in France (Edition Passages) and Germany (Elif verlag). Ragnar Helgi has exhibited his artwork and done performances in Europe and North America in spaces such as MoMA PS1, KIASMA and Kunsthalle Wien. His work has been covered in The Guardian, BBC World Service, Libération and The New York Times to name a few. He runs the publishing house Tunglið forlag as well as being the editor of Ljóðbréf – a journal of poetry. Along with his artistic practice, Ragnar Helgi teaches part-time at the Iceland Academy of the Arts, plays in various bands and does graphic design work. He lives and works in Reykjavik.
