Margrét Helga Sesseljudóttir (f. 1988) útskrifaðist með BA-próf í myndlist frá Listaháskóla Íslands vorið 2010 og lauk MA-gráðu frá sama skóla 2019.

„Ég bý til staðbundna skúlptúra og innsetningar. Hlutföll og skali spila gegna mikilvægu hlutverki í verkum mínum. Ég geri skúlptúra sem eru gerðir með mannslíkamann í huga; þeir eru í mannlegum stærðum. Þeir líkjast tómu sviði, þar sem eitthvað gæti hafa gerst en allir eru farnir og enginn man hvað gerðist. Ég vil búa til andrúmsloft óhugnalegs tómleika og munúðarfulls mikilfengleika.

Íbúðin mín er hlý og rök. Það er kveikt á þvottavélinni og illa lyktandi handklæði liggja á ofninum. Gólfið, veggirnir og loftið eru tóm; íbúðin er tómarúm. Morgunbirtan skín í gegnum gardínulausu gluggana. Postulínsstyttur standa í gluggasyllunum, allt er bjart og hljótt. Plastparkettið er ójafnt og fitugt og hvítur vökvi lekur uppúr því. Scopaesthesia er fyrirbrigði þar sem manni líður eins og einhver sé að stara á mann. Það er tilfinningin um að ill augu séu að fylgjast með manni.“ (MHS)

Margrét Helga Sesseljudóttir (b. 1988) completed her BA Fine Arts from Iceland University of the Arts (IUA) in 2010 and a Masters Degree from IUA, in 2019.

“I make site specific sculptures and installations. Proportions and scale are an important aspect of my work. I make sculptures that are made for the human body; they are human sized. They often resemble an empty stage, where something might have happened, but everyone has left, and nobody remembers what took place. I want to create an atmosphere of eerie emptiness and sensual divinity.

My apartment is humid and warm. The washing machine is turned on and the wet towels on the radiator are smelly. The floor, walls and ceiling are empty; the apartment is a void. The morning daylight shines through the curtainless windows. Porcelain figurines stand in the windowsills and everything is very bright and quiet. The fake wooden floor is lumpy and oily and there is a white fluid leaking out of it. Scopaesthesia is a supposed phenomenon in which humans detect being stared at by extrasensory means.” (MHS)

Through performances and installations sculptor Margrét Helga Sesseljudóttir  explores the connections between body and space and the perception of the female body as both vile and attractive. Her work floats in a space which can not be touched by concept or values. First and foremost she is an artist who deals with composition and poetry. Sesseljudóttir creates and damages the things she makes.
