Helgi Þórsson was born in Reykjavík. He studied Sonology at The Royal Conservatory of The Hague, received his BFA from the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam in 2002 and an MFA from the Sandberg Institute in Amsterdam in 2004.
