Arna Ýr Jónsdóttir

Abstract images by Arna Ýr Jónsdóttir (1991) are mainly worked on in the same way. Markers are in the foreground, but often merge with water and pastel colours, and other things that are at hand. As a result each layer forms from another one, which gives the feeling of depth. Arna has created works in this way over the past five years with much dedication and pleasure. The works themselves have evolved considerably during this time, with some images taking many days in their making.

Arna’s work at Sequences IX gives us insight into an abstract world where vigorous colours and fast movements reveal bold chaos; testimony to Arna’s unique vision. She works quickly and behind her lies a multitude of images that seem to compete to prove to us that the possibilities are endless.

Arna has worked in a studio at the Reykjavík Art School and participated in group exhibitions organized by the school including at Reykjavík Square in the City Library, Grófinni and at the exhibition 4th floor – Hostel takeover in the abandoned guestrooms at Oddsson Hostel.
