Lucky 3

Lucky 3, an artist collective comprised of Darren Mark, Dýrfinna Benita Basalan, and Melanie Ubaldo, creates bold, hybrid spaces for collective expression, joy, and resistance. TAMBAY is a durational performance exploring rest, joy, and the cultural politics of taking time off. Rooted in their shared Filipino heritage, the project responds to dominant narratives around how Filipinos are perceived in Iceland, often through the lens of labor, by centering practices of leisure, celebration, and communal care. Through a series of participatory gestures, the group invites audiences into a space shaped by Filipino ways of relaxing: eating, singing, napping, storytelling, and simply being together. The work gently challenges assumptions around productivity and presence, offering instead a collective, time-stretched space of rest as resistance.
