English version below

Sequences myndlistarhátíð verður haldin í áttunda skipti í Reykjavík 6.-15. október 2017. Líkt og undanfarin ár verður sérstök utandagskrá kynnt samhliða aðaldagskránni þar sem listamönnum og sýningarstöðum gefst kostur á að standa fyrir sýningum og viðburðum.

Utandagskrá síðustu Sequences hátíðar var afar fjölbreytt og metnaðarfull og fjöldi sýninga, gjörninga, kvikmynda og fyrirlestra fór fram á hinum ýmsu stöðum; svo sem í Mengi, Bíó Paradís, í Skaftfelli á Seyðisfirði, Eiðistorgi og á internetinu.

Skráning í utandagskrá Sequences VIII stendur yfir til 6. september næstkomandi. Sendið póst á offvenue@sequences.is þar sem fram kemur titill viðburðar, listamenn, tími og staðsetning ásamt mynd, og upplýsingarnar munu birtast á vefmiðlum Sequences og í prentaðri dagskrá hátíðarinnar.

Margot Norton, sýningarstjóri hjá New Museum í New York, er sýningarstjóri Sequences VIII. Heiðurslistamaður er Joan Jonas. Til að lesa nánar um þema hátíðarinnar og sjá listamannalista, ýtið hér.

Sequences will be held for the eighth time in Reykjavik October 6-15, 2017. Dedicated to time-based art, such as performance, video and sound, Sequences is an artist-initiated festival and has grown from the grass-root art scene in Iceland and established itself as a progressive international visual arts event of significance.

As with previous editions, an Off-Venue Program will be introduced as part of Sequences VIII, where artists and venues can present their exhibitions and events. Last year’s Off-Venue Program was very rich, and various exhibitions, events, talks and screenings took place around the city.

To be a part of Sequences’ Off-Venue Program, please contact offvenue@sequences.is before September 6th and submit your time-based art project taking place in Reykjavik during October 6-15, 2017. Please state title, artist(s), time and place accompanied by an image and it will appear online and in the Sequences handout.

While Sequences uses the term “real time” to refer to time-based media, “Sequences VIII: Elastic Hours” considers how the term might be applied to the experience of art making, exploring how artists manipulate time as a raw material.

Margot Norton, curator at the New Museum in New York, is the curator of Sequences VIII. Honorary artist ispioneering video artist Joan Jonas. For more information and full artist list, click here.
